A bowl cut from a cross section of tree like this will be more prone to crack while being made or soon after as it dries. This bowl has stabilized nicely with only a few small surface cracks. There is a small (1/8") hole in the very center (the pith) and an additional couple of small insect (the insect is long gone) holes. The irregular edge and shape of the bowl follow the form of the tree. The natural staining, spaulting and margin lines give the piece lots of character.
