Chinese Elm

Very attractive , strong grain pattern, flowing shape. The dark red color is contrasted with bright yellow patches of sapwood that show on the bottom.

It carries nicely by the center section "handle". This is a nice piece.
Chinese Elm, to my knowledge, is an invasive species here in Western Arkansas. I see more and more of it, every year. But the wood seems no less beautiful for the threat. This was from a tree that was blown over by the remnants of Hurricane Gustave.
